If you’re into paddling or snorkelling, you’re gonna love the Eurobodalla region. This stretch of the South Coast is packed with calm lakes, hidden creeks, and sheltered bays that are just begging to be explored.

Whether you're keen for a cruisy solo paddle, a fun day out with the fam, or just floating around spotting fish and stingrays, there’s a spot here for every kind of water lover.

Here are a few of our favourite places to launch the kayak or put on a snorkelling mask, plus some local tips to help you make the most of it.

🐠 1. Durras Lake – South Durras

Surrounded by Murramarang National Park, Durras Lake is a flat-water paradise. You’ll weave between submerged forests, abundant birdlife, and winding creeks. Access is available from South Durras, and the area is great for both paddleboarders and kayakers.

🛶 2. South Durras to Batemans Bay – Marine Park Paddle

Paddle alongside scenic bushland and sandy beaches within the Batemans Marine Park. Launch at South Durras and follow the coastline south, hugging inlets and rocky points. You’ll pass Depot Beach, Pebbly Beach, and North Head.

🌊 3. Cullendulla Creek & Snapper Island – Batemans Bay

Great for families and beginners, this sheltered spot offers easy paddling and calm water. Snapper Island is accessible by kayak from Batemans Bay or the boat ramp off Wharf Road. Ideal for a half-day paddle.

🐬 4. Clyde River Estuary & Shallow Crossing

For a more adventurous trip, start from Shallow Crossing and make your way down the Clyde River, passing beautiful forest-lined banks and local wildlife. Ideal for experienced paddlers.

🏞️ 5. River Mouth to Mossy Point

Start at Mossy Point boat ramp and paddle inland up the Tomaga River, or explore around the river mouth. Dolphins are often spotted here, and local tour operators also offer kayak hire and eco-tours.

🐟 6. Tomaga River – Mossy Point

A fantastic location for beginner kayakers, this calm waterway winds through bushland, with plenty of birdlife and the occasional stingray cruising beneath your paddle. You can launch from the Mossy Point boat ramp.

🛶 7. Moruya River (East & West)

The Moruya River is incredibly scenic, with both estuary and inland paddling options. Head east to explore the oyster farms near the Moruya Breakwall, or west for a more peaceful journey through bushland and farmland. Hire is available locally.

🏖️ 8. Guerrilla Bay

Tucked between Batemans Bay and Moruya, Guerrilla Bay is a snorkeller’s dream. Clear water and vibrant rock formations make this an incredible place to explore beneath the surface. Entry is easiest from the boat ramp or beach.

🪸 9. Bar Beach South – Narooma

This sheltered beach just behind the Narooma breakwall is perfect for beginner snorkellers and kids. Calm conditions and shallow water let you easily spot fish and marine life.

🌊 10. Kianga to Bar Beach – Narooma

Follow the rocky coastline by kayak or snorkel around Kianga Point and into the calm waters of Bar Beach. Great for dolphin spotting and crystal-clear paddling.

🐢 11. Montague Island

A once-in-a-lifetime experience! Book a guided snorkel tour around Montague Island, where you can swim with fur seals, explore vibrant reefs, and see rays, turtles, and fish. This is a protected area, so access is only via accredited tour operators.
